Come join us for a talk with author Ben Smith on our Guest Speaker Series

On Wednesday 10th April, Ben Smith will be reading from and discussing his debut novel, Doggerland, published by 4th Estate. Doggerland is a tale of loneliness and survival, archaeological remains and rusting wind turbines, set against the backdrop of a water-filled landscape.

This beautifully crafted novel about loneliness and hope; nature and survival, is as haunting as it is compelling – and a very special debut indeed.
— Helen Garnons-Williams, 4th Estate’s publishing director

Based in North Cornwall, Ben Smith is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Plymouth University. He specialises in environmental literature and the ‘Anthropocene’ and is one of the founding editors of The Clearing, a magazine about landscape and place.
