The Wave

In a winter’s ocean

waiting for the allotted wave

I consider

For the longest time

The reasons why

Until

A velvet touch

A seal

My sister

Not gone

Not drowned

But here with me

Times passes

Until she whispers

Your child calls for you

The wave breaks

Tears swell the ocean

I turn

And swim to shore
