"Our new MA Media and Communication Industries offers a comprehensive and critical approach to investigating media industries worldwide. Students will explore media and marketing communications industries in a wide variety of ways, from political economic and cultural dimensions of international communications, to the activities of media makers and users. Situated in the creative capital, London, the programme engages with media practitioners, industry partners and leading researchers to help students investigate the state of media industries in chosen areas such as work practices, cultural diversity, creative expression, business innovation and governance. Our MA also examines the implications of contemporary convergence of media and marketing communications across paid (advertising), earned (PR), owned and shared media.

Key features

  • Adopts multidisciplinary approaches to support research into digital publishing, audiovisual, mobile and social media, music, advertising, public relations and other marketing communications industries.
  • Develops academic and applied research skills for use across communications industries.
  • Supports innovative work-study placement activities and high quality professional engagement with partner organisations operating across diverse media industry sectors ranging from leading advertising agencies to digital publishers to radical media producers.
